Great news: In response to growing interest in athletics from the over-30 community, the University of Toronto Track Club (UTTC) is expanding to now include a sprints and a mid-distance group, both specifically for masters athletes. Practices will happen in the heart of Toronto (outdoor at Varsity stadium (photos), and indoor at the U of T athletic centre), and will be coached by masters athletes, under the supervision of the U of T head coach Carl Georgevski. "As a club originally dedicated to developing younger athletes, we deeply value the positive example that older committed athletes represent for our younger runners. So we are happy to provide the expertise, resources, environment and convenience of U of T to help older athletes improve and to help the masters movement grow" says U of T head coach Carl Georgevski. The mid-distance group will be coached by Paul Osland (Olympian and 2005 M40 world champion) and Mike Sherar (2009 M45 world champion); while the sprints group will be coached by Chris Lemassif, a world championships finalist.
Practices of both groups will start this week, so to join the mid-distance group or for any questions, please contact Paul at paul.osland@hotmail.com rapidly. To join the sprints group or for any questions, please contact Chris at chrislemassif@hotmail.com.
