Relays Close Out The World Masters Indoor Championships In Kamloops

W80 Louise Sorensen BC lead off the W85 Canadian team.

W80 Hildegard Buschhaus BC ran a fine 2nd leg.

W90 Olga Kotelko closed out a multi-World Record meet with the 3rd leg.

 

W80 Leona Smith BC took it home to finish in 4:16.33....a new W80 4x200M WORLD RECORD.

 

M80 Bill Thompson ON hands off to M80 Isaac Thiessen BC in the M80 Relay

M85 Harry Thompson BC ran a fine 3rd leg.

M80 Norm Lesage BC ran the anchor to win in 2:40.99

They won the Gold and set a new CAN record with their 2:40.99

W75 Klazina Noort BC lead off the Canadian W70 Relay

W75 Ruth Carrier BC ran the 2nd leg

W70 Mary McCarron-Egner ran the 3rd leg.

W70 Louise Reed BC took it home in 3:04.74

The W70 team won the Gold and set a new CAN record in the 4X200m Relay.

M65 Tuomas Ukonmaanaho BC ran the 1st leg of the M65 Canadian team.

M65 Vern Shook BC ran the 2nd leg.

M65 Lee Southern BC ran the 3rd leg.

        

M65 Tony Badowski BC took the baton from Lee just as the GBR runner inadvertently stepped in front of him. Tony had to run way outside to get around him. In one of the most thrilling races of the day, Tony then chased after the German anchor who had a huge lead, catching him on the home stretch.

The M65 Team's time of 2:10.80 , just off the 2:00.34 CAN record held by Tony, Herb Gee, Harold Morioka, and Andy Aadmi.

W60 Rhona Trott ON lead off the W60 team.

W60 Catherine Roberts AB ran the second leg.

W60 Michelle Hankey BC ran the third leg.

W65 Carol Lafayette-Boyd SK, starting her leg well behind the Aussies, almost caught their anchor Wilma Perkins (WMA President Stan Perkins' wife).

The W60 team finished in 2:16.23 winning the Silver medal and establishing a new CAN record.

 

 

W50 Wendy Alexis ON ran the first leg for the W50 Canadian team.

W50 Rhona Trembley SK ran the 2nd leg.

W50 Jovette Jolicoeur AB ran the 3rd leg.

Doesn't hurt to hand it off to the fastest woman in the World - W55 Karla Del Grande

The W50 team won the Gold in 1:58.88, setting a new CAN record.

 

M40 Chris Lemassif ON lead off the M40 team.

M45 Mike Sherar ON started the 2nd leg right behind the Italians and the Aussies.

M40 Paul White ON took over from Mike.

M40 Peter Lawson NS ran the anchor leg.

The M40 team finished in 1:39.85, breaking the 1:42.80 CAN record held by Chris, Mike, Eddy Renelique, and Joe Baptiste in 2008.

 

 M35 Bill Harrower BC ran the first leg of the M35 4X200m Relay

M40 Peter Lawson NS took over from Bill for the 2nd leg

 

 M35 Chris Jones AB took the baton from Peter for the 3rd leg.

M35 Samuel Walker BC took it home to win the Bronze Medal.

 

 The Canadian M35 Relay team established a new CAN record of 1:38.97
