We have a tie for the award this month !
W65 Karla Del Grande
– Double gold medallist in Torun (200, 400), and both were World Records
– 200 in 29.73 (99.97%; the age-graded calculator doesn’t delineate between outdoor and indoor times; if it did, this mark would be over 100%, as would the age grading for her 400 time)
– 400 in 68.39 (97.44%)
– Karla and silver medallist Caroline Powell of Great Britain both broke the previous 400 W65 indoor world record (70.34) in both the Heats and Final in Torun
M90 Earl Fee
– Earl missed the registration deadline for Torun, so instead he ran in a USATF meet in Grinnell, Iowa, one day after turning 90
– He broke both the 400 and 800 World Records by huge margins
– 400 in 1:30.76 (109.07%; broke the previous WR by 16 seconds!)
– 800 in 3:42.52 (106.07%; broke the previous WR by 33 seconds!)
– According to Earl, these are the highest age gradings ever in his career as a masters athlete
